Make molehills out of mountains

March 26th, 2010

Climbing hills on a bike is tough enough without having to worry about technique. However, get this right and it could help you save energy and feel better at the top. You might even be able to enjoy the views as you go.

Most triathlon races have at least one significant bike climb. Ours truly, Chichester, has three. These are each very different from one another. So how do you tackle these climbs with enough energy to run 10k afterwards? The hard way is to get out and actually practice on the hills. This is exactly what some of us are going to be attempting in the Pyrenees next week. For those of you who are stuck with the south downs (they are great!!) I have found a very interesting, if not a bit long winded, article about climbing. P1010006

As most of you that know, carrot cake is an essential part of my Sunday ride. So you will be happy to know that, whilst in California but not riding my bike, I have found a place that sells carrot cake. I can report that Rowlands Castle is still the best Carrot cake by far.
